A is for … Anthuriums in Alizarin crimson

A is for Alizarin crimson

With the exception of the background, all aspects have alizarin crimson in them, with assists from Azos yellow and green and anthraquinone blue. Pigments PR 83, PY 151, PY 129, PB 60

Alizarin crimson -PR83 -is a transparent, non lightfast, staining blue leaning red pigment. Its a pigment which has been in use since approximately the 15th century. Many more lightfast versions exist today, I was feeling somewhat historical when I choose this for the A pigment.

Anthurium are a Central and South American plant, which means for many they are indoor only as they require consistent heat and humidity to thrive.
